Whitewater Falls
Whitewater falls is the most spectacular waterfall in the area. It is located in Transylvania County in the Nantahala National Forest and can be easily accessed using state road 281. At 411 feet tall, Whitewater Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Mississippi River. This is one you don’t want to miss!

Toxaway Falls
Toxaway Falls drop 240 feet before its waters desend further into Lake Jocassee. Highway 64 crosses over the top of Toxaway Falls below Lake Toxaway Dam. Both sides of the falls are devoid of trees due to the dam bursting in 1916. The word Toxaway comes from the Cherokee language meaning " redbird " who was a famous Cherokee leader.

Courthouse Falls
Courthouse Falls is located in Transylvania County in the Pisgah National Forest. Courthouse Creek flows over a series of granite ledges that falls 40 feet into a large pool. The falls are accessed by taking NC215, FR140 and a small walk down Summey Cove Trail.

Looking Glass Falls
Looking Glass Falls is one of the most beautiful and most photographed falls in the Pisgah National Forest. Looking Glass Creek drops about 85 feet into a pool below that fly fishermen frequent. The falls are easily accessible and parking is available off of US 276.

Sliding Rock
Sliding Rock, also on Looking Glass Creek is a fun destination during the hot summer months. Over the years, the water has polished the rock smooth where kids of all ages test their skills at sliding down the rock into a 6 foot pool at the bottom. Sliding Rock is located in the Pisgah National Forest off US 276. Parking is available and there is a small fee.
